Stone sculpture

Floating stone

One of a series of Floating stones, made for the 2014 on form exhibition. This pieces is made from Carrara marble about the size of a dinner plate, the photograph shows it under water rising from the bottom of the bath. I spent days experimenting with different stones and resins.

The first piece I made was like a large bowl, but soon realised I could not exhibite it outside, because if it rained, it would sink So I started to make two bowls as thin as possible and join them together with resin so they would float. The pieces I shown at the exhibition had small sculpture placed on top of the Floating stone.
