Portland Stone
Part Copy from an Indian stone carving, from Purana Mahadeo Temple ‘A scene of dance and music’ This relief panel was carved in Portland stone for a local Indian restaurant.
I have never been to India or seen the original close up. The carving was made with observations and guesswork from a book on Indian art. I believe that the original is in Sikar museum in Rajasthan.
One day I would like to go and visit the real thing and study some of the amazing carvings which so far I have only heard of or seen in books.
